Meet Harriet on June 24!
As I celebrate the one-year anniversary of the release of Hey, Harriet! this June, I have two major announcements:
First, Harriet will make a special appearance at the weekly indoor market in Fairfield Glade, Tennessee, on June 24 from about 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. That is where I will begin offering an anniversary edition of the book.
If you have not already met Harriet, I can say with certainty you will enjoy the time with this brave, special beagle and her owners, Jody and Amy Farley, whether you buy the book or not.
The indoor market is at the Village Green Mall at the intersection of Peavine Road and Stonehenge Drive. Please note that there also is an outdoors farmers market at the same time at that same intersection. To meet Harriet, be sure to go INSIDE the mall.
Now, for the anniversary edition:
This new release will have a few more photos and a couple more eyewitness accounts of sightings of Harriet when she roamed Fairfield Glade as a hobo for five months in 2021.
I am offering this anniversary edition at two reduced rates:
-- The regular anniversary rate will be $12 where I sell it at markets and in stores in and around Fairfield Glade. This will be for first-time buyers.
-- For those who bought a previous edition and want this new one, I am offering it to them for $8 at the markets. (That is only $1.37 above my cost to produce the book.) It's my way of saying thank-you for supporting this project as a special Harriet fan. To get it, just bring the previous edition you bought to where I am selling the book. You'll get the anniversary edition, and, of course, you can keep the earlier edition.
The anniversary edition also will be available at the discount of $12 at two stores in Fairfield Glade: Copper Chick's G.O.A.T. Soapery and Cafe (3825 Peavine Road) and Soul Sisters antiques store (3996 Peavine Road).
All of the books come with Harriet's paw print that I stamp inside. It is her actual paw print at actual size.
For those who live outside the area, Hey, Harriet! is available on Amazon at a different anniversary rate. Go to www.amazon.com and enter "Hey, Harriet!" (without the quotation marks) in the search bar. I can send you Harriet's paw print by email at your request so that you can insert it into your book. (Everyone wants her paw print!) Just contact me by email at heyharrietbook@gmail.com.
As always, I thank you for the support and excitement you have shown for this book, which I promote as "A heartwarming little piece of Fairfield Glade history." It certainly is that.

The little stray beagle who became known as Harriet wasn’t just any homeless dog wandering the woods and neighborhoods of Fairfield Glade, Tennessee, in the spring and summer of 2021 looking for tidbits of food.
She appeared mysteriously during an unsettling, even tumultuous, time for our country. The lingering COVID-19 pandemic still was keeping us apart, and controversy over the outcome of the 2020 presidential election between President Donald Trump and Joe Biden was tearing us apart.
The timing was right for Harriet to enter our lives.
An uplifting story of benevolence
Reviews
“This charming little book will tug at your heart. But that’s not all. It will also help in restoring humanity’s desire for neighborliness, compassion, and belonging -- all of which is what makes a community worth living in.”
-- Rev. Dr. James E. Janecek, pastor, Fairfield Glade Community Church.
“The real-life tale of Harriet brings out the genuine volunteer spirit of Fairfield Glade residents. In a society where individual pursuits often overshadow communal efforts, Hey, Harriet! serves as a beacon of hope, reminding us of the profound impact humans can have through selfless service. This story about a little dog captures the essence of giving back by ordinary individuals who made a difference in their community.”
-- John Wedgworth, president, Fairfield Glade Resident Services

"I read it from cover to cover. . . . I cried and I laughed. I don't know what higher praise I could offer. Thank you for sharing the story of this brave little dog and the wonderful people across Fairfield Glade and the Plateau who have come to love her. But I fell in love with her through your words."
-- Steve Lokker, journalist.
